What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are used for a variety of purposes including keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences, and understanding how people use a site.
How Mentawe uses cookies
Mentawe uses essential cookies only. These are strictly necessary for the Service to function. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies of any kind.
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), essential cookies do not require your prior consent because they are necessary to provide the service you have requested.
Cookies we set
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-[ref]-auth-token | Keeps you signed in to your account by storing your authenticated session. Set by our authentication provider (Supabase). | Session / up to 1 week | Essential |
| cookie_notice_v1 | Remembers that you have acknowledged this cookie notice so it is not shown again. | 1 year | Essential |
On-device storage (not cookies)
As well as the essential cookies above, Mentawe stores a small amount of data directly in your browser using local storage and a service-worker cache. This is used to remember which Insights cards you've saved or dismissed and your reading streak, to pre-fill the note form when you share a link, and to let the Insights feed load and work offline once you've opened it online.
This storage is functional only — it stays on your device, is never used to track you or sent to advertisers, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Third-party services
Stripe (our payment provider) may set cookies on payment pages. These are governed by Stripe's own Cookie Policy.
We do not embed Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking or advertising scripts.
Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when a new cookie is set. Please refer to your browser's help documentation for instructions.
Be aware that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in to Mentawe and may affect the functionality of the Service.
